Impact Maker brings Arizona leaders together to turn ideas into action on our state’s most pressing challenges. Explore the projects our Impact Teams have completed, each reflecting the power of collaboration, community-driven solutions and leadership in action. While these projects have concluded, their impact continues through the partnerships, resources and momentum they created.
Child Well-Being: Child Welfare System
Increasing supports for children and families interacting with the child welfare system.
This team focused on strengthening the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. They made policy recommendations related to lie detector tests as part of the application to become a CASA. The team also held lunch and learns on CASA program with VL alumni and other audiences with the goal of supporting Maricopa, Gila, and Yuma County CASA staff with recruitment.
COVID-19: Cross-Sector Collaboration
Coordinating across private, public and non-profit sector issues.
This team worked with state-level policymakers to advance the Impact Maker™’s Recovery Roadmap, which details cross-sector policy priorities for addressing the most critical needs related to the pandemic.
COVID-19: Financial & Unemployment Navigation
Helping individuals understand their unemployment benefits and resources and providing tools to navigate their path.
This team created an infographic that helped individuals apply for unemployment during the summer of 2020.
COVID-19: Healthcare Response
Matching supplies and demand in the medical field.
This team built an exchange to connect local businesses, professionals, and other organizations to supply the needs of the COVID-19 front-line. They also secured healthcare needs through existing supply chain for Arizona healthcare centers.
Education: Early Literacy
Meet the state’s Education Progress Meter goal of 72% students proficient on the 3rd grade English Language Arts AZMerit test by the year 2030.
As part of an effort to increase literacy rates, the team worked to create Little Free Libraries in neighborhoods in most need with some of the lowest reading rates. The team succeeded in creating three of these libraries.
Education: Postsecondary Access
Increase Arizona’s high school students enrolled in postsecondary the semester after graduating from high school to 70%.
The team focused on encouraging more students to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as completion of this form is a strong indicator for students continuing on to postsecondary education. The team hosted Lunch & Learn sessions with corporate partners about the importance of FAFSA and organized a marketing campaign in partnership with Cox Communications and the Arizona Board of Regents.
