One way we make an impact in the community is through hosting story circle events. We held our first Community Story Circle in March 2023, and we have decided to continue this effort for the fall at Scottsdale Community College.
This event will engage community members in an inspiring time of storytelling as we work toward reaching complicated truths through the art of storytelling.
Story circles are often often understood as deriving from Indigenous traditions. This simple tool allows capturing the reflections of a community through positive and respectful civic discourse, often with surprising results.
We are grateful the Indigenous Cultural Center is our host venue. The ICC is the realization of a long-standing commitment by the SCC to provide a cultural center for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
